Preferred Specimen Type: Endocervical canal, vaginal discharge, posterior vaginal vault or vaginal orifice
Container/Tube: Routine culturette swab
Acceptable Container Tube: Inoculated agar plate(s)
Collection Instructions: Collect per proper provider protocol.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Swab: Refrigerated (preferred) ≤48 hours/Ambient ≤24 hours
Plate: Incubated 35° C (preferred)/Ambient ≤24 hours
Reference Values
Culture negative for Group B Streptococcus, Neisseriae gonorrheae, and Listeria.
