Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, 24 hour

Container/Tube: Collection container (available from Rice Lab)

Submission Container/Tube: Plastic conical or transport tube
Specimen Volume: 5 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. No preservative is required.

2. Instruct the patient to void at the beginning of the collection period and discard the specimen.

3. Collect all urine, including the final specimen voided at the end of the collection period.

4. Measure and record urine volume, date and time collected, and collection interval.

5. Aliquot 5 mL of well mixed specimen into a pour off tube.
