Specimen Type: Throat

Container/Tube: Routine or double swab

Collection Instructions:

1. Using a double culturette swab, collect material from the back of the throat and any white patches in the tonsillar area.

2. Avoid contact with teeth, gums, tongue, or cheek surfaces.

3. Calcium alginate, cotton tipped, wooden shafted swabs and collection systems containing charcoal or semi-solid transport medium are unacceptable.
