Specimen Type: Fresh whole blood
Container/Tube: MDH Newborn Screen filter paper
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Infant should be between 24-48 hours old.
2. Draw by routine heelstick protocol.
Additional Information: Nursery staff will complete and assign the MDH form. Phlebotomist will complete the date and time of draw.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Ambient; allow sample to dry 3 hours before shipping.
