Specimen Type: Plasma or serum

Container/Tube:

Preferred Plasma: Heparin, plain or gel separator

Acceptable Plasma: EDTA, NaF

Serum: Clot, plain, activator or gel separator

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.2 mL

Collection Instructions: A 1 hour post dose (50 grams) glucose is drawn. Separate plasma/serum from cells or gel as soon after collection as possible.

Specimen Transport Temperature

Refrigerated (preferred) up to 7 days/Ambient up to 2 days/Frozen up to 3 months
